However, spider solitaire has a different goal. Players attempt to count down from king to ace in each of the ten columns, thus removing those cards from play. Spider Solitaire Features

Difficulty

Players can select difficulty every time they start spider solitaire. Beginner, which has only one suit, intermediate with two suits and advanced, which uses all four suits, are the options. The game saves statistics for each difficulty level.

Hints

Players can use a limited amount of hints when they’re stuck during game play to move on.

Statistics

Statistics show the number of games played in total, wins and the winning percentage. Other information includes the longest winning and losing streaks and the current streak.

Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts make starting new games and other controls quick. Users can type “H” for a hint or hit the “F2″ key to begin a new game without opening the File menu.

Customization

Users can change the appearance of the background and the backs of cards. A classic deck is available along with one that has large print for users who might have trouble reading the smaller size. Backgrounds include green, brown and red felt, a nature backdrop and red hearts.

Game Saving

Players can set up the options to save the game and re-start the saved game every time the player opens the program. This allows the player to finish a game over multiple sessions if he doesn’t have time in a single sitting. A second option always saves the game upon exiting the program.

Options

Sounds and animation options allow the player to turn off audio so as to not disturb others. Animations, while attractive, can result in lag on older computers, which makes this option useful as well.
